Mark’s Don’t Works Wearhouse

Latest News is about chain of stores owned by Canadian Tire – Mark’s Work Wearhouse (MWW) getting investigated by the privacy commissioner in regards to questionable practice of conducting credit checks for sales clerks that are being hired. We can only assume that HR department at Mark’s Work Wearhouse was using some sort of data that lead them to believe that there is a direct correlation between sales person’s integrity and performance vs. their credit history. It seems that this association has as much sense as driving record to secretarial position (unless that position had a requirement for driving).

This incident wouldn’t have happened if MWW used Pre-Employment Screening assessment that we provide to our clients as a first step in hiring process. Quite often timing is everything and prevention is always better that consequences. Read full document
