Hate Your Boss?

Recently published in National Post this article about boss – employee relationship suggests that “It’s hard to find someone who hasn’t had a problem with a boss at some point in his or her career. The higher you go on the corporate power ladder and the more you earn the more complicated the boss-employee relationship becomes”.

This is true but how many people are actually working in the right environment, in the right place and with the right people?

Author of the article suggest to

# 1. Tune out your boss.

# 2 Change yourself

# 3 Manage your boss

# 4 Have a heart-to-heart or one-on-one confrontation to present your problems so you and your boss can find a way to mend wrongs and improve the quality of the working relationship.

How frightening is it to realize that thousands of job seekers in today’s market going to read this and start tuning out their bosses, managers supervisors?

The article rounds off with “In short, success in this kind of one-on-one encounter rests on your ability to read another human being. The big question is, Can your boss listen to what you have to say and critically evaluate its merit? If the answer is “yes,” go for it. Lots of luck. You’ll need it.

Needles to say the story doesn’t have a “happy ending”, “lost of luck, you’ll need it” is more like “you are on your own and there is nothing we can do for you”.

In today’s economy and changing job market mass media could offer advice on how to understand some of the challenges business owners are going through, rather that confronting employees with “hate your boss?” sensationalistic headlines.

We strongly disagree with such approach.
